From Paintball Guns to Paintballs themselves, we at Best Paintball Review will break them down so anyone can understand them. Besides our reviews and direction we invite you as an owner to write reviews of the products you are familiar with, let people know what you think of what you have!
With the growth in paintball, knowing which item is for you, and what is compatible with what, can be extremely confusing. Making an educated decision at the beginning of the buying process can not only save you money, but numerous headaches down the line. It is extremely easy to get caught in the excitement of buying a toy gun, excitement that normally causes most people/parents to make hasty decisions they end up regretting later.
When you are considering getting a paintball gun and equipment for yourself, you need to have an idea where to start. Getting caught up in the glimmer of some paintball guns, which require costly accessories, can start out looking like a couple hundred dollar purchase, and by the time you add in all those accessories it’s easy to peak right around a thousand dollars.
Know that there is more than just a paintball gun, and tank that are needed to play. At the very minimum you will need:
While this may be the very minimum you will need to get on the field and start playing there are other accessories that will offer protection, better performance, and just generally give you more enjoyment. Some of these other accessories are:
- Paintball Packs/Harnesses and Pods
- Protection Equipment (i.e. Knee and elbow pads, chest protectors, gloves etc. )
- Paintball apparel (Paintball Pants, Paintball Jerseys)
- As well as an infinite amount of accessories for your paintball gun itself
There are a few different ways to go about making the best decision for yourself. The cheapest and quickest way is to work backwards off of your budget. You know you have “x” amount to spend. Start with the list of necessities above. I would recommend looking at the mask first. Spend a little money here. A few extra dollars above the cheapest paintball masks out there will yield better vision, more comfort, and most importantly will have a true thermal lens. Then pick your paintball gun, loader and tank and you are set.
Another way is to purchase a kit, either one put together by a manufacturer or by your local supplier/online paintball store. While this seems like a cheap route, know that most times these packages are not the best decision. These are meant for the people who generally don’t care to do some research or ask some questions. Most of the items in them are the bottom of the barrel items. Most of which you will want to upgrade or replace fairly quickly. That’s where they get you. Get a cheap package, get the basics, they will either not perform up
to your standards, or you will just get bored with them. In either case you will just upgrade. Now if you would have done the research initially, you would have saved some money, and would not have all this extra entry level paintball gear lying around (the extra items from your package that you have already bought replacements for.)
The last, final and best route is to spend a little time and do some research. Figure out what you want to spend and what level of equipment you want. Do you want the best performing equipment out there? Or are you happy with something that works, doesn’t require constant maintenance but lacks some of the performance? This is where you will start. From there things will expend greatly into an endless list of options and accessories. We at Bestpaintballreview.com will do our best to help guide you through the process.
